Puttin' on the Ritz [Apr. 26th, 2014|10:15 am]
What Was That Song?

Hey everyone.

I've been driving myself totally insane trying to figure out what it is I have stuck in my head; it's been months and I haven't been able to find it! Grr!

I can't tell if it actually IS "Puttin' on the Ritz" or not... if it is it's a faster version of it. The only version of it I've found that comes close is the one by Clark Gable. The tempo is right in that one but I recall it having a different feel than that one... it was less swingy but the same speed.

I looked up the versions by Taco, Fred Astaire, Irving Berlin, Harry Richman, etc. and they all aren't fast enough to be what has been dancing around my head.

Do we know any other versions, maybe hard to find ones, of Puttin' on the Ritz? Or maybe songs similar to it only faster?

I just want to find this silly thing! Thanks for any help. :)

Probably not what the OP wants, but how could you overlook this classic rendition?

It's only snippets, but have you tried the Jeeves and Wooster version, by Hugh Laurie?

Perhaps it is a song with a similar progression, "Istanbul/Constantinople" by They Might Be Giants, or Anything Goes from the musical.
